Series 12

Episode 1 – Marine Life

8.30pm, RTÉ One, Wednesday 4th November 2026

Ireland’s vast territorial waters support highly diverse ecosystems and represent internationally significant habitats for a wide variety of species including whales, dolphins, sharks and seabirds. In this episode, we meet the researchers conducting ocean and aerial surveys to assess the distribution and numbers of species in Irish waters, and as Ireland gears up for an offshore wind boom, we meet the researchers seeking to protect our marine creatures, from whales and dolphins to the equally important shellfish along our coastlines, from important technological advances and documenting our underwater soundscape before it’s drowned out by “acoustic smog”.
