Episode 1 – Outdoor Living
8.30pm, RTÉ One – Monday 1st November 2021
Since the first lockdown at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been spending more time outdoors, whether that be sea swimming because the local pool is closed or meeting friends for long walks in parks just to get out of the house!
In this episode Aoibhinn investigates the rise in the popularity of outdoor living and discusses the benefits it can have on our physical and mental health.
Jonathan visits Derrynane House – the ancestral home of Daniel O’Connell – to see how tourism and conservation can not only co-exist but complement each other.
And Kathriona explores the concept of One Health, where the health of humans is interlinked with the health of animals and of our environment, and braves the cold waters of the Irish Sea to join the sea swimmers who are helping Irish researchers analyse our recreational waters for the presence of anti-microbial resistant bacteria…
